Training
JCI Barnsley exists to support the development of its members. Members can attend our regular training sessions to gain a range of skills such as networking, public speaking, leadership and confidence building.
Our trainers have a wealth of experience and it's our members who drive the topics we train, so if there is something that would help you to build your skills and confidence then we will look to include it in our programme.
Debating, Extempore and Public Speaking
JCI Barnsley has a proud tradition of taking part in debating, extempore and public speaking competitions at regional, national and international level and with some considerable success!
In 2009 Debbie Tills reached the final of the European Debating Competition in Budapest and in 2010 Gemma Fletcher competed in the World Debating Competition in Osaka, Japan. Vicky Savage won the Yorkshire regional extempore competition. Gemma Fletcher won best debater at the Yorkshire regional debating final in 2011.
We are the annual hosts for the Vicious Circle Dinner, a competition which is a fiercely fought public speaking competition with a twist and is the highlight of most chambers calendars.
We encourage our members to attend training sessions aimed at providing the skills and the confidence to take part in these competitions.
